Club News

Can’t believe that it’s been just over a year from the last update. That’s a real lapse on my part, not the club. While there hasn’t been any updates online that doesn’t mean that the club has been inactive, quite the contrary. We have been very active with club nights, guest speakers, outings etc, some of which I will highlight below.

We started our season at the beginning of September with a general meet and greet, then headed out with our cameras to Craigavon Lakes, photographing the new leisure centre, Civic centre and surrounding areas. Next meeting was one were each member took it in turns to show what they had in their camera bag. Apart from the usual assortment of camera bodies and lenses there was also a wide variety of knick knacks that made their home, often tucked in to the creases of a camera bag.

A number of guest speakers have given presentations via Zoom. These included presentations on Night Photography and Abandoned Architecture, while one of our members, Michael Carbery, gave a presentation on an Introduction To Art Nude Photography.

As always we take part in the annual NIPA competition and to date we have entered the first two, and we were very successful in round 1 with two of our members, Michael Carbery and Aine Carbery, achieving two starred images each.

In November the same two members, Michael and Aine Carbery, achieved a Credit in the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) Awards for Photographic Merit, hosted by our very own NIPA.

Just some highlights of the season so far. Hopefully the next update won’t be as long in coming.
