November Update

Focus Photography Club has a great variety of activities to ensure something is included for every club member. From the start of this season in September we have had a mix of practical photography sessions, guest speakers, competitions, creative challenges and outings.

The focus is on fun, with an opportunity to learn and develop skills including technical and practical skills, while sharing our images to see how everyone is getting on.

At our Composition & Basic Editing evening we explored the fundamentals of good composition and basic photo editing. Whether it was a reminder of back to basics, or sharing tips and tricks, we went through examples of our editing using Lightroom, Photoshop and other alternatives.

Proving Halloween is not just for kids, we enjoyed our annual Themed Outdoor Portraits session with some incredible models. The results were outstanding with creative Halloween-inspired themes, poses and lighting.

Printing & Mounting is a big deal when it comes to competition time, and creating a lasting image. We welcomed Get It Framed NI for an informative talk on how to get the best from our images and prepare them for display.

Creating more engaging and effective portraits – Portrait Photography – Lighting & Composition – was a dedicated evening for looking at lighting techniques, composition and a few impromptu modelling debuts for club members!

Light Painting took us outdoors again for a hands-on evening experimenting with long exposures and creative lighting techniques to produce some interesting and imaginative results.

The theme for the NIPA competition round was “Pets”, which drew out some remarkable talent with several top class images put forward by club members. Well done to those selected to go foward, and anyone who narrowly missed out.

October went out with a bang – Fireworks Photography down by the Craigavon Lakes. After relocating the location, it was an opportunity to try a different type of photography skills to capture the spectacle.

The change of colours in Autumn often feels like Christmas for photographers. The richness of colour, texture and getting outdoors is a gift to us all.

We welcomed several new members who have brought diversity of interests and skills, enriching the experience for everyone. Thanks for joining us!

It’s been so enjoyable to share these activities with our club members – new and old alike. We’re looking forward to the rest of the events in our calendar – https://focusphotographyclub.co.uk/calendar/ from bugs and gigs to products and challenges – and seeing more of the fantastic images our members create.
